- change colours, contrast levels, and fonts using browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen or requiring horizontal scrolling
- navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software

- access the website on smaller devices
We’ve also made the website’s text as simple to understand as we can.
Nexer Digital, who supported the testing of our site can offer step-by-step advice on how to make your computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone easier to use.

Technical information about this website's accessibility
The Greater Manchester Combined Authority is committed to making its websites accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
This section lists the key ways in which this website fails to meet the WCAG 2.2 success criteria. It includes all violations of A and AA success criteria and all issues that the testing found to be serious or critical. It includes minor issues only if they relate to a Level A criterion. The issues appear in ascending numerical order of the applicable success criteria.
Some images are missing alternative text, and some have alt text that is too long. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (Non-text content). We will ensure that all images have appropriate alt text by 30 October 2026.
Some pages skip heading levels, and some headings have no heading text. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criteria 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships), 2.4.1 (Bypass Blocks), and 2.4.6 (Headings and Labels). We will ensure that all pages have heading text and follow the correct heading hierarchy by 30 October 2026.
Some components have inadequate non-text contrast. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.11 (Non-Text Contrast). We will ensure that all components have adequate contrast of non-text items by 30 October 2026.
Some elements provide redundant focus indicators. This fails WCAG success criterion 1.4.13 (Content on Hover or Focus). We will ensure that all elements provide one clear, discernible focus indicator by 30 October 2026.
Some links go to the same place as links immediately adjacent to them. This fails WCAG success criterion 2.4.4 (Link Purpose (In Context)). We will ensure that the site contains no situations of redundant adjacent links by 30 October 2026.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
The site contains links to Word, Excel, and PDF documents whose accessibility is unverified. Such verification is not in scope for this audit, so we will just note that the site contains non-HTML files. We plan to audit these documents and, if necessary, either fix them or replace them with accessible HTML pages by 8 September 2027.
Any new Word, Excel, and PDF documents we publish will meet accessibility standards. Before publishing new content in any of those formats, we will make sure that that alternative format is necessary, as advised by the Government Digital Service.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
We will continue to monitor how this website meets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard and will update this statement when we find or fix any accessibility issues.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 24 September 2026.
This website was tested on 8 September 2026. The audit was carried out by Nexer Digital Ltd.
We chose the pages to test with the goal of covering as wide a variety of web components as we could and ensuring that we included certain specific types of components as well as every stage of the information sharing journey.
The audit assessed the following pages:
- Homepage: https://connectedhomesgm.co.uk/
- News page: https://connectedhomesgm.co.uk/about
- Resources page: https://connectedhomesgm.co.uk/resources/
- Funding page: https://connectedhomesgm.co.uk/funding-opportunities/
- Contact page: https://connectedhomesgm.co.uk/contact/
The audit also included the global content that appears on every page.
The audit used the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) V2.2, levels A and AA, to determine how well the selected pages meet the accessibility standard.
